Mr. Jeffrey A. Smith, Esq. joined the firm in 2015 and brought with him over twenty years of experience in litigation of criminal and family law cases. He was born and raised on Florida’s west coast where he graduated from high school. He then attended Stetson University in Deland, Florida and obtained a Bachelor of Arts in Political Science. After completing his undergraduate studies, he attended Stetson University College of Law in Gulfport, Florida graduating in 1994 with his law degree (Juris Doctor).
His legal career began as an assistant public defender on the Treasure Coast where he handled all types of criminal cases. After approximately 3 years he left the office and worked as an associate at a Stuart law firm specializing in family and criminal law. He has been in private practice on the Treasure Coast since then. He is qualified and certified to handle death penalty cases and has done so on several occasions.He has tried hundreds of criminal cases ranging from misdemeanors to murder and has family law experience in almost every type of domestic situation, including divorce, paternity, dependency and child custody matters. His approach to cases is to devote his full attention and energy to each client and aggressively and zealously advocate on their behalf in order to obtain the desired result.
Mr. Smith is a member in good standing with the Florida Bar, the Martin County Bar Association, the Florida Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers and the St. Lucie County Association of Criminal Defense Lawyers. He is involved in his community through volunteering at the Treasure Coast Food Bank and also supports numerous other charitable organizations, including The American Heart Association, the United Way and St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital, among others. In his personal time, he enjoys spending time with family, travelling to new and interesting destinations and supporting his favorite professional and collegiate sports teams.
